The Abu Dhabi Criminal Court, at its hearing yesterday, ruled that the state did not have jurisdiction in the case of accusing the presenter, Wassim Youssef, of spreading hatred and racism in society, and decided to transfer the case to the Federal Prosecution.

The Public Prosecution in Abu Dhabi assigned the defendant the charge of disseminating information to promote programs and ideas that would spread hatred and racism in society and harm national unity and social peace, and demanded that he be tried in accordance with Articles 1, 24, and 41 of the IT Crime Law.

During the previous session, the plaintiff (civil complainant) explained that the defendant’s tweets inflicted damage on him, as well as on society, and caused discord, as it challenged the prophetic Sunnah and the principles of society, indicating that he relied in his complaint on what the defendant wrote on “Twitter” , Or portions of his show, which he broadcast on social media, all contest the year. The defendant denied the accusation against him, pointing out that the evidence is on the one who claimed, and affirmed that his program through which he is speaking is a global program, and not a program limited to the UAE, and that he never intended to stir up hatred, strife, or racism, in addition to his talk about Sahih Al-Bukhari intended to lift the position of the Noble Qur’an from any other book. He also decided that the word “obscurantists” that he used in his tweets on the social networking site “Twitter”, was meant by ISIS and the Muslim Brotherhood, and was not intended by the Emirati people.
