For several decades, Hanöhus in Hällevik was a tourist magnet that attracted hotels, restaurants, nightclubs and beach life. A large number of artists have played at the popular entertainment palace.

The sea-close facility also attracted sports teams that had training camps there. During a period, Hanöhus also served as an asylum dwelling.

Wake up from slumber

But now the enriched tourist resort is about to be woken from its current slumber. A new owner has taken over and has plans for the future.

- I have been a summer resident in Hällevik for 50 years and have seen what a tremendous opportunity there is at Hanöhus. Now it was given an opportunity to do this business and it will be life and movement at Hanöhus again. We will open hotels, restaurants and apartments, says Håkan Ehrnst, who runs the real estate company

For summer

The hotel and conference facilities are scheduled to open later this year.

- We open for the summer provided the corona virus settles. The hospitality industry has a great need for hotels as well as hotel apartments and self-catering campsites, says Håkan Ehrnst.

Planning housing

He also has plans for housing on site.

- We are investigating the possibilities of turning some of the facilities into housing. There is great demand for apartments. Many elderly people who have lived in Hällevik throughout their lives want to move something more purposefully as close as possible. It also means that families with children can move into the houses which then become vacant and that is something Sölvesborg's municipality needs, says Håkan Ehrnst.

Did you hesitate about the deal given the current situation with the ongoing corona pandemic?

- No, I did not. We have long-term plans, ”says Håkan Ehrnst.
