This is stated in a statement on the website of the foreign ministry following a telephone conversation between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammed Javad Zarif.
“Sergey Lavrov emphasized that the Russian Federation strongly urges Washington to immediately lift its inhumane sanctions that prevent the respective governments from fully combating COVID-19,” the text says.
The parties also exchanged views on the topics of the current agenda.
Earlier, the official representative of the Iranian Ministry of Health, Kianush Jahanpur, said on the IRINN television channel that more than 1.7 thousand people were infected with COVID-19 coronavirus infection in the country per day.
