The Franco-Malian singer Rokia Traoré was released on Wednesday March 25 in France. Incarcerated since March 10 in Fleury-Mérogis prison, she had started a hunger strike to denounce the violation of her mother's rights and the bias of Belgian justice. The Paris Court of Appeal approved the surrender of Rokia Traoré to Belgian justice. But it decided to place it under judicial supervision, in accordance with the requisitions of the Advocate General. Rokia Traoré was imprisoned in France in Fleury-Mérogis prison and her imprisonment had raised many reactions, including that of Claudy Siar of RFI who asked for her release.

On March 10, the day of her arrest, the singer arrived by plane from Bamako to go to Belgium. She had to go to Brussels to attend a hearing before the Court of Appeal following a decision by the Brussels Court of First Instance to give sole custody of their daughter to her father.

She was finally arrested during her stopover in Paris. The international arrest warrant against Rokia Traoré was issued in late 2019 by Belgian justice for " kidnapping, forcible confinement and hostage taking ".
