The World Health Organization warned yesterday that the United States, where the number of people infected with the "Covid-19" epidemic, may soon overtake Europe and become the focus of the new virus.

The new Corona virus appeared in China in December, before it spread to Europe, which has become the continent most affected by it, but its spread in the United States may make this country the new focus of "Covid-19", as announced by a WHO spokesperson, Margaret Harris, during a videoconference press conference.

"We notice a significant acceleration in the number of cases in the United States, and it may happen," she said. "We cannot say that this is the case now, but there is a possibility."

According to the latest daily report of the Health Organization, published last night, the United States recorded an increase in the number of injuries and deaths caused by the "Covid-19" epidemic, within 24 hours.

Yesterday, the Pentagon said that the number of HIV infections in the military was 174, an increase of 41 over the previous day.

In a daily update, the "Pentagon" added that 59 civilian employees, 61 members of their family and 27 contractors have also been confirmed with the virus.

The rapid pace of the emerging coronavirus in the United States could be explained by a better detection of cases, as well as a high incidence of infection, before the introduction of strict isolation measures.

She added: "Transferring an individual to two or three people requires three to five days, and what we saw happened three, four or five days ago in many countries."
