He Chengyun lives outside Wuhan, in the city of Jiayu. For two months he has been sitting indoors with his parents.

When Wuhan was quarantined, it was not long before the restrictions also began to apply to the larger area around Wuhan, and soon the entire province of Hubei.

In the parents' residential area, the doors to some rises were welded again, and metal barriers were set up around each yard. So-called neighborhood watchers had full control over who was moving in the area. They checked the temperature of the residents, decided who was allowed to do matters outside the area, and handled all food deliveries.

But now people in Jiayu have been allowed to move outside for several days. Hubei, where the giant city of Wuhan is located, has been hit worst in China by the new corona virus. But now only one new infected has been reported in the last five days.

In the city of Wuhan, restrictions continue to apply until April 7. There, roads, railways and airports have been closed since 23 January.
