In the clip, Irene Linddahl at Church Aid explains why most of the EU migrants, who stayed in Jönköping during the winter, chose to return home quickly.

- We had a meeting with them some time ago to inform about the corona center, says Irene Linddahl when SVT meets her outside a shopping center where there is usually a Roma man in his 40s trying to get money together. Now it is empty outside the entrance.

Some have chosen to stay

Of the 25 people who lived at the Church Aid's shelter on Råslätt in Jönköping, 18 have now left the country.

- We have asked those who have chosen to stop why they do it, but they have not been able to give any concrete answer. We have asked how they should do now when the shelter is closed and they have replied that they should live in tents. And that is not an optimal solution.

Want to help them at home in Romania

The Church's hope is that the Roma will be able to stay at home in Romania in the future and become an integral part of society. This requires, among other things, an entrance to the labor market and thus a steady income.

- It is our absolute long-term hope. We collaborate with five aid organizations and intend to deepen that cooperation, says Irene Linddahl.
