The authors of the initiative recalled that in connection with the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19, a number of national systems of general school education are switching to distance learning.

According to public figures, not all students have the technical ability to continue to master the school curriculum and prepare for final grades and the USE at home: someone does not have computers, in some regions there are also problems with the Internet.

In this regard, it is proposed to provide those students who need it with the necessary digital equipment (routers and laptop computers). Schoolchildren could receive equipment at the request of parents or legal representatives for the required period for free, specified in the text of the appeal.

“The equipment should be provided for rent, primarily to beneficiaries. These are large families, where, as a rule, there is one computer for everyone, and low-income families, where there may not even be the necessary equipment and the Internet. At the same time, we are talking about residents of remote territories, small cities, where communication interruptions can also be observed, ”said Anna Marks, director of the Institute for Progressive Education, in an interview with RT.

According to her, on average in Russia there are about 15 computers that are in school per 100 students. Some of these schools could be given for a while to needy students, Marx believes.

“The Ministry of Education has already announced that Russian telecom operators will make access to educational resources free. Accordingly, for individual families, you can also agree on the provision of routers or modems at no cost, ”she said.

Earlier, the State Duma proposed making the main stage of the Unified State Exam (USE) remote in 2020.
