With the intention of saving the season, the entrepreneurs of the island of Ibiza have started promoting the word ' veroño ' on the networks, with the intention of moving it or extending it to include the month of November.

The #moveyourspring (move your spring) campaign is aimed at both entrepreneurs, to keep their businesses open this fall, and tourists, so that instead of canceling their holidays on the island they are postponed by a season. "This year we move spring and make sure that this 2020 Ibiza season does not close", they point out, without knowing very well when it will open.

For this they require that the institutions postpone all those events that they had planned from spring to autumn, as well as that the airlines and shipping companies maintain their connections with the island.

«We want to make Ibiza the ideal destination to celebrate life. We are a pioneer destination in the tourism sector and this is a great opportunity to record it and demonstrate it again for one more season, "says the campaign.

The objective is that Ibiza "becomes the chosen destination to celebrate the end of this bad dream ", and encourages all sectors not to stay "standing" and lamenting "for what others do not do" for them.

In favor of tourists, an island is sold in which the weather has been generous the last few November , an island without the traditional summer crowds and where you can get to know the real Ibiza. " Nothing in a Mediterranean just for you, " suggests the campaign.

The truth is that although there are only 40 days left until the first opening parties of the macro clubs, and you can still buy tickets, few believe that these May events will ever take place.

It should be remembered that this sector represents 770 million euros in turnover and 35% of the island's jobs .

José Luis Benítez , manager of the Ibiza Leisure Association and director of institutional relations for the Palladium Group, on which the macro discotheques Ushüaia or depend, among others, believes that one of the keys that would make the campaign successful in extending the season until November is that "after quarantine people are going to want to party."

In the same vein, the president of the Ibiza and Formentera Hotel Business Federation (Fehif), Ana Gordillo , had already spoken, who assured almost two weeks ago that the efforts of the entrepreneurs were already trying to extend the season to November. .

The island president, Vicent Marí , is in fact confident that, despite the fall in reserves, they would recover "quickly" as soon as the situation changed.

The general director of Tourism of the Balearic Government, Rosa Ana Morillo , urged Ibiza's businessmen to be able to "react, but not give up on the season."

Another of the keys will also be the promotional actions carried out by the Balearic Government of Francina Armengol outside of the businessmen.

Formentera already demanded at the beginning of the month to take measures aimed at markets other than German, as announced after the suspension of the Berlin Tourism Fair and main on the island of Mallorca, but also towards the markets of those who depend on this island, such as Italy, Spain and France . While in the case of Ibiza, the United Kingdom, its main issuing market, it is unknown what situation it will be in in November.
