Activists on social media circulated a video showing a large number of travelers gathered in one hall at Dubai Airport in the United Arab Emirates, pending the detection of the Corona virus.

The clip sparked angry reactions on communication platforms that it considered inappropriate for health with the outbreak of the virus, and some accused the UAE authorities of lying about the announcement of the number of HIV infections for fear of its impact on the economy.

Some people also criticized the UAE authorities for keeping the Dubai airport open to receive travelers of many nationalities, compared to many countries in the world that closed their airports as part of their procedures to curb the spread of the epidemic.

The UAE authorities did not order their residents to stay in their homes, nor did the major commercial centers close to cities in neighboring countries close, but they advised their residents not to go out or mix, and obligated government employees to work remotely.

The UAE authorities have recorded 153 cases of the virus in the past weeks, 38 cases recovered, while two people died, according to what the Ministry of Health announced yesterday evening Friday.

The authorities have taken precautionary measures, including stopping trips to dozens of cities and suspending schooling, for fear of spreading the virus that has killed thousands around the world, but they have not reached the point of forcing residents to stay in their homes.
