In a village outside Matfors in Sundsvall municipality, the Olsson family on Saturday morning saw something they first thought was a dog.

- But then we saw that it was so big, then I realized it was a wolf, says ten-year-old Melvin Olsson.

Clear traces of the site

It was his older brother Sebastian Olsson, 24, who was quick and able to film the wolf when it chased some deer into the forest. The tracks are clear in the snow outside the house and down on the ledge on the other side of the road.

Dad Tommy Olsson missed the wolf, as he was the only one in the family still sleeping.

Traces of both wolf and wolverine

"A gamekeeper has been here and he said it was definitely a wolf," he says.

Nature conservation officer Peter Nilsson on the County Administrative Board of Västernorrland confirms that he has been on site at Storjorden. According to him, the tracks and sight observations show that it is a wolf. The tracks showed that the wolf swam across Ljungan and continued north. In addition to wolf tracks, Peter Nilsson also saw wolverine trails by the river.
