North Korea today launched two short-range ballistic missiles off its east coast, in the latest in a series of similar launches by Pyongyang.

The official North Korean News Agency, reported that the northern leader, Kim Jong-un, supervised a competition to launch artillery between assembled units of the army, yesterday, and broadcast pictures of him while watching the scene with senior officers.

The South Korean army condemned the launching of the two missiles, and said it was "completely inappropriate" given the difficult situation the world is witnessing from the emerging Corona virus (Covid-19), and we urge them to stop immediately.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff said that the two missiles launched around 6.50 am local time from around Suncheon in North Pyeongan Province, and fell into the sea off the eastern coast of the Korean peninsula, and the Japanese Ministry of Defense also confirmed the North Korean missile test.

The missile launch came after two similar incidents this month when North Korea launched two short-range missiles and a number of projectiles, prompting the United States and China to appeal to Pyongyang to return to talks to end its nuclear and missile programs.
