In the municipality, it has been noticed that the number of summer households that have already opened up for the season is higher than usual, partly because of increased pressure on the waste management. Jens Odevall, on the other hand, does not believe that this should mean an increased spread of the corona virus.

- The most important thing right now is that everyone follows the authorities' recommendations. That is, one should avoid unnecessary travel. If you are already here then you are very welcome to be here, but be sure to show respect and keep your distance, says Jens Odevall.

Business is favored

It is estimated that there are about six hundred residents on the island more than usual at this time of year, which the municipal operations can handle and the local business community is doing well. At least as long as you do not get too many cases of illness.

- I understand if this is going to be a concern. We are all worried, both in Öland and in Sweden. But we islanders also travel, we have been to Stockholm, Gothenburg and Sälen. We are a few weeks after the big cities and not least southern Europe, but we follow the recommendations of the authorities and take the necessary measures. We will not close the Öland Bridge.
