Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi published a photo of him and his late mother, coinciding with the celebration of Mother's Day, which falls on Saturday.
Al-Sisi said in a post on his page on the social networking site "Facebook": "On Mother's Day, I address the most precious feelings of humanity to everyone who sacrificed, given and devoted, and was a symbol of wisdom, patience, faith and giving, who struggled and was support and assistance."
And he continued: "To those whom we owe to her the goodness, love, mercy and tolerance of her children in the hearts of her children."
He added: "To my mother ... whom I pray to God for forgiveness and mercy, and to every mother of the great Egyptians, I address you all with the highest verses of respect, appreciation and gratitude."
