After days criticizing the government's management in the face of the coronavirus crisis, the President of the Generalitat, Quim Torra, has found internal opposition to his role in mitigating the effects of the health crisis.

The Mayor of Barcelona has championed a protest against the deficient help provided by the Generalitat to distribute dining cards to families with children in need. Colau and 43 other mayors of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area -mostly socialists or the commons- have sent a letter to Torra in which they remind him that the Government announced on Monday that "it would guarantee aid for the dining room and less users of the services of socio-educational intervention with food service ".

"Days later, this commitment has not yet materialized," the mayors complain in the letter, while recalling how last Thursday, at the coordination meeting with the local world in which Torra and his advisers Budó, Vergès participated. and Buch, have already expressed their "concern about the lack of coordination in the distribution of the wallet cards to the affected families."

The municipalities, which warn of the "difficulty" of distributing these cards from the town halls, "given the circumstances of the social services, which work under minimal conditions and attending to emergency cases," reproach not having received "any specific guideline. about the formula for making the deal. "

"We do not have any type of support, neither from the Generalitat nor from the educational centers themselves, a support that has been denied to us despite the fact that we have asked for it," the councilors point out.

In addition to Colau, the letter is signed by the socialist mayor of L'Hsopitalet and president of the Barcelona Provincial Council in coalition with JxCat, Núria Marín, and the mayors of Badalona, Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Santa Coloma de Gramenet and Terrassa, among others.
