A Burkina Faso government spokesman said today, Saturday, that four government ministers were infected with the Corona virus (Covid-19), while the number of people infected with the disease in the African country increased from 40 to 64 in the largest outcome in West African countries.

The spokesman said that the injured officials are the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior, Mining and Education.

"The rumor has become a reality," Foreign Affairs Minister Alpha Barry said in a tweet late Friday. "I was just notified that I had Covid-19," he said, referring to media reports that raised speculation about his health.

Mining, education and interior ministers confirmed their injuries in posts on Facebook.

Andrea Romoso, the Italian ambassador in Burkina Faso, told Reuters that he had contracted the virus.
