March 18, 2020 Valentina Gagarina, the 85-year-old widow of the first man in space Yuri Gagarin, died. Neither the cause of death nor the date and place of burial were disclosed.

Born in 1935, in 1958 she graduated in medicine. In 1961 she was awarded the highest honor of the Soviet Union as the consort of the first cosmonaut on Earth.

After the tragic death of her husband she participated in numerous commemorative events dedicated to her husband. The interviews he has granted are very rare. In 1981 she wrote a book in memory of her husband: "108 minutes and all life".
