After the confinement came into effect on Tuesday, the French mobilized to pay tribute to the caregivers with applause from their balconies, at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Confined France applauds its caregivers. On the first day of the general confinement decreed by the government to fight against the coronavirus, the French organized themselves, via social networks, in order to pay tribute to the nursing staff. At 7 p.m. or 8 p.m., depending on the instructions, they went out on their balconies to cheer for long minutes. Images shared on Twitter, via the hashtag #OnApplaudit.

Long applause

Everywhere, cheers and applause were relayed on social networks, accompanied by messages praising the action of health personnel, as here in Boulogne-Billancourt, where this internet user even qualified the caregivers as "heroines and heroes":

Support for all of our heroines and heroes who are fighting right now and will fight to the end for our lives. twitter.com/0sorSzcaAE

In other places, the applause was accompanied by horns, as in the XXth arrondissement of Paris in order to make as much noise as possible:

It made noise in the 20th century against # COVID19! # Total confinement # Parispic.twitter.com / NJ4bvCOnzL

Elsewhere, kitchen utensils were used, for example at La Rouvière, in the IX arrondissement of Marseille:

Acknowledgments and reminder of instructions by hospitals

French hospitals have not failed to react on social networks to this gesture of solidarity. Thanking all the anonymous people who took action, like the Necker hospital which shared a video, while reminding that aid to hospitals also required compliance with containment measures:

A huge thank you for this support! #OnApplaudit in TT. Another way to support our caregivers is of course: #RestezChezVous.
You can also contribute to the emergency fund for research on # Covid19 of the @FondationAPHPhttps: //t.co/F9fIkzS1qchttps: //t.co/EIimpXHlmC

Other movements were born on social networks, like the Facebook page "The 10 minutes of the people" to support the caregivers but also to put a good mood during the period of confinement. These mobilizations take their example from what was done in the previous days in Italy, Spain or the Netherlands, where the populations are also confined.
