Iraq nominates candidate for new Prime Minister

A new prime minister candidate has been nominated in Iraq on the 17th in the Middle East. The focus is on smoothing the cabinet and overcoming the political turmoil that lasts about six months.

In Iraq, since October last year, anti-government demonstrations had spread throughout the country against the background of high unemployment and corruption, and Prime Minister Abdul Mahdi was forced to resign.

After that, political turmoil continued, with the former Minister of Justice being nominated as a prime minister candidate, but declined to nominate him as no prospect of obtaining parliamentary approval.

A former governor of the southern Najaf province has named Adnan Zulfi, a former Prime Minister of Abadi, a new Prime Minister candidate.

Zulfi will be aiming for a cabinet within the next 30 days, but some parties are opposed to Zulfi's nomination.

In Iraq, due to the conflict between the United States and Iran, rockets and other attacks have hit the domestic base where U.S. troops are stationed, and there are plenty of issues such as new coronavirus measures. The focus is on converging the six months of confusion.
