The Belgian Prime Minister has announced that Belgium will enter confinement from Wednesday noon until April 5 in order to stem the coronavirus epidemic. Only a few outings will be allowed.

The Belgian population is invited to stay at home from Wednesday at 12 noon local time (11 am GMT) until April 5 in order to avoid the spread of the new coronavirus, Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès announced on Tuesday evening.

Only outings to go to the doctor, for physical activity and in some shops deemed essential, will be authorized, said Mrs Wilmès at a press conference, citing in particular pharmacies and food shops.
