Blaise Matuidi, world football champion with the French team in 2018, has tested positive for the new coronavirus, his club Juventus Turin announced on Tuesday.

"The player, in voluntary home isolation since Wednesday March 11 (...) is doing well and is asymptomatic," Juventus said in a statement.

The entire Juventus squad was placed in isolation on Wednesday after the announcement of a positive test by Daniele Rugani, the Italian central defender of the team.

Matuidi is therefore the second player from Turin to be officially affected by the disease.

In addition to the French world champion and Rugani, several players from Fiorentina and Sampdoria Genoa have also tested positive for coronavirus in Italy.

According to the latest report published Tuesday, more than 31,000 people were affected by the disease in Italy, and 2,503 died from it.
