by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea 14 March 2020Guido Bertolaso will be Attilio Fontana's personal consultant in the Lombardy Region for the construction of a hospital dedicated to Covid-19 patients at the facilities of the Fiera di Milano Foundation at Portello. The Lombardy Region communicated this in a statement.It was President Fontana who asked the former head of the Civil Protection to "work alongside him as a personal consultant", one always reads in the note from Palazzo Lombardia.
Guido Bertolaso, after being appointed as a consultant to Fontana, said: "How could I not comply with the requests of the President of Lombardy to help in the epochal battle against Covid-19 if my story, my whole life was dedicated to to help those in difficulty and to serve my country? ".
"Moreover, if I opened the Spallanzani hospital twenty years ago and I worked in Sierra Leone during the deadly ebola epidemic maybe something useful with my team I hope to be able to do it. My thoughts go to the doctors - the real ones - to the nurses and health technicians and pharmacists who have been giving their soul for weeks, risking every moment to fight and win this battle ". With these words Guido Bertolaso confirmed that he accepted the proposal. The new consultant of the Lombardy Region on Coronavirus for the assignment will receive "a symbolic compensation equal to one euro".
