by Tiziana Di Giovannandrea March 14, 2020 A new suspicious bomb pack has been isolated in the province of Rieti, in Passo Corese, on Via Salaria, 40 km from Rome. Thus the number of explosive packages sent by post rises to 10.

The suspect explosive envelope, similar to those delivered in recent days in Rome and Lazio, was identified and isolated in the afternoon in the town of Reatino.

According to what was learned from investigative sources, the envelope, delivered to a local family, showed an assembly similar to those that in recent days have been found in some homes in Rome and Lazio, in some cases exploding and injuring the recipients.

The recipients of the package realizing the suspicious nature of the package immediately called the Carabinieri, who in turn alerted colleagues from the Bomb Department. Once on the spot, the military isolated and defused the package.

At the beginning of the week three suspect parcels were intercepted between the provinces of Rome and Viterbo quite similar to those already delivered to the capital which resulted in three injuries. The packages were reported in the sorting centers of Fiumicino, Castel Madama and Ronciglione.

Previously other explosive packages have been sent and delivered, the latest in the home of a concierge in Palombara Sabina, in the province of Rome, who works in a luxury building in Ponte Milvio, in the capital. The envelopes would have the same construction characteristics.

At the moment investigations are underway and a file has been opened at the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office for an attack with a view to terrorism and personal injury.

The anarchist and anti-militarist movements are followed, but other investigative hypotheses are not excluded.
