Hear the entire interview with the Swedish Food Agency's emergency preparedness officer about Sweden's food situation in the clip above.

During Friday, among other things, a picture was published in a Jönköpings group on Facebook where you can see that food is missing on the shelves of a grocery store. The National Food Agency is now criticizing the people who spread images on empty shelves in grocery stores on social media.

- Posting such images becomes scary propaganda. We have no indications that food is about to end, says Therese Frisell, emergency preparedness officer at the National Food Agency.

"People hoard"

Several grocers in the grocery store tell SVT that people shop among other things rice, pasta and canned goods in large quantities. One reason is that people are worried about being affected by the new corona virus and quarantining.

But people not only pick up masses of goods in the stores, but also order food to a much greater extent than before on the Internet.

- Online orders have tripled this week, this is a tough challenge for us and we are maxing out on what we can do right now, said trader Patrik Nygren, who works in a grocery store for SVT Västernorrland.

Deliveries are coming in

The National Food Agency has received no indications that grocery stores will not receive food supplies. However, some goods end because no stores have been prepared for people to suddenly start buying certain types of food in large quantities.

- This was not a situation that was expected for the stores, then it will be more difficult to fill the shelves, says Therese Frisell.
