A Kremlin spokesman recalled that "an amendment about Putin’s ability to stand for president will not be voted on in 2024."

"The amendments are not voted on separately, the package of amendments to the Constitution is being voted ... I urge you to recall the speech the day before yesterday by President Putin in the State Duma, where he did not mention any decision regarding 2024," he said.

As Peskov pointed out, during the speech, Putin "on the contrary said that there was still a lot of time until 2024."

“And there will be hard work, and no one is going to wait for something, but everyone just works,” he added.

He emphasized that "Putin does not need to be escorted anywhere, he does not need to be collected."

"He is in the initial stages of his presidential term, and by 2024, ending his speech, Putin said - will be 2024 - then we'll see," he said.

On March 10, the State Duma adopted in second reading a draft law on amending the Constitution, including the amendment proposed by Valentina Tereshkova, which allows the current president to participate in new elections.

Later, the bill was adopted by the deputies in the third reading, after which it was approved by the Federation Council.

As noted by the co-chair of the working group on changing the Constitution, Pavel Krasheninnikov, the rule on the abolition of the limit on the number of presidential terms for the current leader relates to a specific situation.
