In the United States of America, the election race continues. The Democratic Party is conducting primaries to determine Donald Trump’s rival in the upcoming presidential election. Judging by the results of the March 10 vote in six states, Joe Biden, the former vice president of the country, has the best chance of becoming a single Democratic candidate.

Ex-spokesman for the Barack Obama administration has strengthened its leadership after the “Super Tuesday”, March 3. Then the intra-party presidential candidate was held in 14 states - Biden won in 10 of them.

In addition, the results of the “Super Tuesday” led to the fact that Senator Elizabeth Warren left the race, following the example of Michael Bloomberg and Pete Buttigic.

Thus, on March 10, Democratic voters had to choose from three candidates - Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and Tulsi Gabbard. At the same time, Biden is the only one to whom the American media, as well as other politicians, did not attribute ties to Russia.

Recall that according to the results of primaries in each state, applicants receive the votes of electoral delegates, who then vote for a particular candidate. Future opponent of Trump will be determined at the party congress, which will be held July 13-16 in Wisconsin. In order to win, it is necessary to enlist the support of at least 1991 out of 3979 delegates. If no one could secure the support of the majority, then the outcome is decided by more than 700 so-called superdelegates appointed from among party functionaries (elected members of the National Committee of the Democratic Party, current governors and members of Congress, as well as current and former presidents, vice presidents, chairmen of the congress and national committee) .

According to estimates, on March 10, the former US vice president won in Idaho, Mississippi, Missouri, and Michigan. The last one is of particular importance, as it provides 125 delegates to the Congress of the Democratic Party.

In other states - Washington and North Dakota - Sanders is expected to win with minimal margin. However, it is unlikely that he will be able to bring this into his asset, since delegates are obliged to cast their votes in proportion to the results of the primaries in the state that sent them.

According to preliminary estimates, Biden, after March 10, has more than 850 delegate votes, while Sanders has a little more than 700.

Speaking to his supporters in Pennsylvania, Joe Biden thanked Bernie Sanders and his team "for inexhaustible energy and enthusiasm." At the same time, he added that they have a common goal - the victory over Donald Trump.

“Just a week ago, many claimed that this campaign was dead. But now we are very much alive ... Today we are one step closer to returning decency, honor and dignity to the White House. This is our ultimate goal. We will unite this country. We are reviving the democratic electorate, the Democratic Party, ”said Biden.

In turn, in the camp of the senator from the state of Vermont actually resigned to defeat.

“This is how he charted his path. Today's vote was one of the steps. But our hopes were not realized, ”said one of Sanders’s key advisers.

The results of the democratic primaries on March 10 were not left without comment by the current US President Donald Trump.

“Pocahontas (the nickname he gave Elizabeth Warren. - RT ), having teamed up with the Democratic Party, destroyed the Bernie Sanders campaign. If she had left the race three days earlier, Sanders would be ahead of Biden. He wouldn’t get close to him. In addition, “Sleepy Joe” was supported by two more losers! ” - wrote the head of the White House on his Twitter.

As the New York Post notes, speaking of two losers, Donald Trump probably refers to two black senators Kamalu Harris and Corey Booker, who spoke in support of Joe Biden this week.

"Trump looks more convincing and Biden, and Sanders"

Director of the Institute for Contemporary State Development Dmitry Solonnikov is almost certain that Joe Biden will become a single Democratic candidate.

“The number of delegates' votes so far is not enough to guarantee him victory at the Congress of the Democratic Party. Sanders has only one option for victory - to throw tough dirt against Biden. If nothing like this happens, he lost, ”the source said.

In turn, the director of the Center for Political Studies of the Financial University Pavel Salin believes that the situation can still change, but in general, only Donald Trump considers the 2020 presidential favorite.

“Trump looks very convincing against the background of Biden, who sometimes demonstrates strange behavior, and against the background of Sanders, who seems not to be weird, but too radical and leftist for the American electorate. The primaries of the democrats are not very important for Russia, because any of the democrats looks less convincing than Trump. But the Democrats option with Sanders is the lesser of two evils, ”the expert explained in an interview with RT.
