Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that the security of Turkish observation posts in Syria is a top priority for his country and that it will respond to any attack with similarities and weaknesses.

The Turkish President announced today, Wednesday, to his party’s parliamentary bloc in Parliament that his country has reached a temporary ceasefire agreement, “not because it is not capable of Assad’s elements and terrorist groups, but because it seeks to obtain a reasonable solution for all parties regarding Idlib.”

The Turkish president added that the security of observation points in Syria is one of his country's top priorities, pointing to the start of building brick houses north of Idlib in an area between 25 and 30 km from the Turkish borders to house the displaced.

Violations
Erdogan said that there are small violations of the cease-fire that was agreed with Russia, adding that the priority for Turkey is the safety of 12 observation posts set up in the region.

In the same context, the Anatolia News Agency quoted Turkish Defense Minister Kholisi Akar as saying on Wednesday that the talks between Turkey and Russia on the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in the Idlib region in Syria were "positive and constructive."

Ankara and Moscow agreed last week to hold a ceasefire to stop escalating clashes in Idlib.

A Russian delegation arrived in Ankara on Tuesday for talks on the details of the agreement, and Akar said the two sides were preparing to conduct joint patrols on the main M4 motorway expected to start on March 15.
