The police have now chosen to take action after the recent fires that ravaged Olofström. At a press conference on Tuesday, they announced that they had chosen to increase their presence in the municipality.

The reception to the Olofström police station is staffed five hours a week. Now it is closed and replaced with police presence in the community.

- We will have a police officer out in the community once a week to see if we can meet the residents in a better way, says local police area manager Louise Englund.

After the police security survey showed that the Olofström residents feel unsafe came the idea of increasing the police presence. During 2020, the police had some work to do in Olofström, including several fires. But despite that, the police say it has nothing to do with the change.

- We had decided this before 2020 started. Now we are becoming more efficient with our resources, says municipal police George Nilsson.
