• Interview. "When I see myself I think: 'this asshole is here again' and it's me"

There is a man in Spain who does everything, said that song by Astrud. Will Luis Piedrahita be that man? If we stick to what the Google search engine says about it, when it offers us the search result of its official website, it could well be. It reads like this: "Luis Piedrahita is one of the most complete artists on the Spanish scene. Outstanding humorist, writer, film director and illusionist . " To which we could add several more things: screenwriter, music promoter, and something that is sure to hide us. Where does time for everything come from?

Possibly, the best way to save time is not to lose it, and Piedrahita is seen as organized and practical, something typical of someone who has a mathematical mind. To start, go to 'El Hormiguero' as a guest on Tuesday, and that is very convenient because it is also one of the programs where he works, so he does two things for profit using a single trip. He also does it because he has new hot activities on his calendar. For example, he has just announced that he will direct and present a musical show at the Royal Theater from May 17 to 24, in seven unique functions with no extension option, about the life and work of Ludwing van Beethoven in the year of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the composer. The work, true to its bombastic style - that of Piedrahita, not that of Beethoven - is' A la bin! To the ban! To the Ludwig go! Beethoven, Beethoven and nobody else! ' Longer than the 'Missa Solemnis', but it works.

Piedrahita was born in La Coruña in 1977 and began to stand out in the scene of the show at the beginning of the century, mainly as an illusionist. He is one of the most popular active magicians, and someone especially recognized in his guild as a skilled prestidigitator, capable of bringing the magic show to new audiences thanks to his use of humor and scholarship. That taste for games - whether hands or words - is what also led him to the terrain of humor monologues, being a regular comedian in formats such as 'The comedy club' , and developing a parallel career as a writer and collaborator in the media, such as 'The window', in the Cadena SER, and 'El hormiguero', where he has been a screenwriter, represents magic numbers and, sometimes, even auctions parts of his body. In 2008 he underwent an operation to remove the gallbladder, and he decided to keep it in formalin and auction it in the program - when it was still broadcast in Cuatro and it was not yet the great audience success that it is today - to allocate the funds to the investigation of West syndrome, a disease that affects babies less than one year old.

His books deal with different themes and humor with humor and plain language, such as magic, science and fun uses of language. He has not yet entered the field of the novel, but in fiction in film format: in 2007 he directed, together with Rodrigo Sopeña , a film that had wide acceptance among the circles of the fantastic genre - and with good reception at the festival of Sitges - and which was entitled 'The room of Fermat'.

Surely, the least known aspect of Luis Piedrahita is his melomania. A great fan of classical music, he has also made his first steps in musical dissemination on a couple of occasions, both in collaborations with the Royal Theater - the show about Beethoven will be the second, after which he performed last year around the 'Carnival of the animals', by Camille Saint-Saens , intended for children - as in his participation in a video of the popular youtuber Jaime Altozano, a false documentary about a conspiracy around Mozart in which Piedrahita mixed false and certain data about the Salzburg genius. Precisely, it was his knowledge - and his popularity - that gave truthfulness to an elaborate and well-established historical-musical joke. There is a man in Spain who does everything. Will it be him?
