What we know about this first patient, what he is Congolese. He is 52 years old. He lives in France. He is therefore not Belgian, contrary to what was announced much earlier.

According to the Minister of Health, Dr. Eteni Longondo, he arrived on March 8 in Kinshasa from France precisely. If he was not immediately taken care of from the airport, it is because he showed no sign of coronavirus disease, explains the minister.

It was later that symptoms like fever, cough and cold appeared and in view of its origin, that is to say France, he was taken to a private clinic.

The diagnosis was confirmed this Tuesday afternoon. At this stage, efforts are made to trace and identify all the people who have had contact with this patient who has been isolated and undergoing treatment.

According to the Minister of Health, his condition is stable. Dr Eteni Longondo added that the government and its partners are doing everything to prevent the spread of this disease. Thus, he calls on the population to collaborate with medical services and response teams.
