The city of Besançon has been the scene of several shootings in recent months. One of them took place on Sunday in the heart of the city. Result: one dead and one injured. The victim, a young man who was about to be 23, was shot dead in the street, reports L'Est Républicain , which publishes his portrait. A police operation led by the BIS and the Raid took place this morning in this context.
A turf war
A total of 11 gunshot injuries and one death were received. They are linked to a territorial war, according to the regional daily. The police operation, prepared for a long time, has no direct place with the Sunday shooting but is part of the investigation into this series of shootings.
The BIS and Raid units conducted their intervention in Besançon and the surrounding area. It resulted in around twenty arrests. Hearings are underway, according to our colleagues from L'Est Républicain.
