  • The Arkea Arena, the most frequented concert hall in France outside Paris, multiplies concert cancellations while the Girondins and the Union Bordeaux-Bègles are suspended from the decisions of the prefecture and could play their next matches behind closed doors.

The coronavirus will have had the skin of the concert of Gims and the last big meeting of Nicolas Florian before the Bordeaux elections. The Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced this Sunday evening that gatherings of more than 1,000 people were now banned in France in order to curb the spread of Covid-19. Since then, concert halls, sports clubs and municipal candidates have been organizing. Update in Gironde on cancellations or postponements of large gatherings.

Concerts postponed or even canceled

The Arkea Arena, the modular performance hall in Floirac, whose gauge ranges from 2,000 spectators to 11,000 spectators, should see its major spring concerts postponed. We already know that Dadju, which was scheduled to perform on March 18, will return to the Gironde hall on October 16, 2020. Same goes for Gims, whose March 26 concert is postponed to June 3. M will no longer perform on May 8 but on September 18 and Jean-Louis Aubert on October 22, 2020 instead of April 8. The two performances of the “Age Tendre” tour scheduled for March 13 are canceled. Alain Souchon 's concert will however take place this March 15th. The gauge was blocked in time below the threshold of 1,000 spectators.

Blocking the gauge is the option chosen by the Rocher de Palmer. "We stopped sales before reaching the maximum of our gauge," says one side of the Cenonnaise room. The Mos def concert was thus saved, everything was blocked before reaching 1,000 spectators. Those who wish to take advantage of IAM, Caravan Palace or Chinese Man will be less lucky, the three concerts are postponed. The new dates are not yet known.

The Pin Galant (Mérignac), the Grand Théâtre and the auditorium of the Bordeaux Opera or the Femina Theater have opted for the same trick, blocking their gauge to less than 1,000 spectators, "in order to take into account the staff of the artists “, Says Euterpe, who produces numerous shows for theaters in the region. No cancellations or postponements are reported at this time. The same goes for the New Gallian Comedy, the Chartrons café-theater, the Salle du Grand Parc, the Trianon and Molière theaters or the Casino Barrière, whose gauges do not exceed 1,000 seats.

Note that in the context of these cancellations, the tickets purchased remain valid for the date of postponement or are refunded.

Canceled meetings

Nicolas Florian has decided to cancel his last major public meeting before the first round of municipal elections. “The first level of registration allowed us to think that we were going to exceed 1,000 people, explains the team of the outgoing mayor, who organized the meeting on March 12 at 7 p.m., at the Halle des Chartrons. We could have stopped the counters at 900 people, but the risk remains the same. For this last week before the ballot, we will therefore work hard on the door-to-door and the towing. "

In Pessac, Sébastien Saint-Pasteur (Réinventons Pessac) has also planned to cancel the rally scheduled for March 10 at 8:30 p.m., in the Bellegrave room.

The Girondins and the UBB behind closed doors?

If we are to believe the words of the Minister of Sports, there should not be many people at Matmut Atlantique or at the Chaban-Delmas stadium by April 15. "Either the clubs will choose to sell 1,000 tickets or they will prefer to play behind closed doors," said Roxana Maracineanu. A situation that leaves the prefecture of New Aquitaine in the dark for the moment. She is waiting to know if she "will have some leeway" since the former swimmer announced that decisions would be made on a case-by-case basis.

The clubs are also waiting. The minister's announcement concerns four games for the Girondins and the Union Bordeaux-Bègles. The players of Paulo Sousa will notably play three times at home in Ligue 1 (Rennes, Reims and Amiens) in this period while those of Christophe Urios must receive Montpellier in the Top 14 and especially Edinburgh in the quarter-final of the Challenge Cup.

It also remains to be seen whether the matches of the JSA Bordeaux (Nationale 1) or the Mérignac Handball (LFH) will be contested when the crowd is very close to or often exceeds 1,000 spectators for these meetings. The Bordeaux basketball club has announced that for the moment its match against GET Vosges on March 13 has been maintained but that only 600 places will be on sale. Same uncertainty about the 42nd edition of the Jean Boiteux Grand Prix at the Judaic pool scheduled for the weekend of April 3 and 4. "We have a meeting on this subject Tuesday evening. We approach this bar of 1,000 people with generally 600-700 swimmers and 200-300 spectators per day. But at time T, there is no cancellation ”, explains Marc Lafosse, the organizer, to 20 Minutes.

Reported events

"Eleven days from mounting and moving for more than 6 million pieces of equipment", the organizers of the trades Olympiad have learned that their event, scheduled for March 19-21, will be postponed. The 12,000 visitors expected will be able to return from July 2 to 4 at the Bordeaux-Lac Exhibition Center. "Three months before an event, I have never been so ready," says project manager Damien Moncassin with a smile. Same thing on the side of the Electric Road forum. Scheduled for April 2-4 in Bordeaux, it is suspended from the prefecture decree but should be postponed. The first edition of the Garden Fair, scheduled for March 20 to 22, is also postponed.

The Salon of independent winegrowers of Bordeaux which was to be held from March 13 to 15 is also postponed from June 19 to 21.

Note that the prefecture of New Aquitaine will try to list all the events that could bring together more than 1,000 people in the coming days. The task is long and other concerts, meetings or cultural events could be canceled. 20 Minutes will give you all the additional information.
