Disappearance of Estelle Mouzin in France in 2003: "Michel Fourniret has recognized the facts"

The serial killer Michel Fourniret, indicted on November 27 in the Estelle Mouzin case, admitted to having killed the nine-year-old girl mysteriously disappeared in 2003, the Paris prosecutor's office said on Saturday.

Michel Fourniret, indicted for the kidnapping and murder in 2003 of Estelle Mouzin in Seine-et-Marne (Ile de France) " recognized his participation in the facts, " said the Paris prosecutor's office on Saturday.

The 77-year-old serial killer, who has long denied his involvement in the girl's disappearance, confessed during three days of interrogation that ended Friday evening in the office of investigating judge Sabine Kheris.

During this hearing, the serial killer - who claims to suffer from memory loss - did not, however, formally confess, according to the minutes of his hearing which AFP learned of on Friday. He is said to be suffering from the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

" It is very possible even very likely that I was the author of this disappearance, but I do not know what to tell you, " he said, ensuring that nothing was " tilting " in his head when we confront him with a photo of the little girl.

The prosecution did not indicate whether Michel Fourniret provided indications on the location of the body and the sequence of events.

Estelle Mouzin disappeared at the age of nine, when she returned from school in Guermantes, a village located 250 kilometers from the Belgian border. His body was never found and the numerous tracks envisaged by the investigators did not give anything.

Michel Fourniret was considered for a long time as a potential suspect, but the track heated up when his ex-wife Monique Olivier weakened his alibi.

Michel Fourniret is currently serving two life sentences, one for murdering in 1988 the partner of a crook in order to take a loot, the other for the murder of seven teenage girls and young women between 1987 and 2001.
