The criminal court of Alençon (Orne) tried this Thursday a motorist who had engaged in a chase with the gendarmes, January 16, 2019. The driver of the Clio, which transported 33 kilos of cannabis, had been caught hunting in Poitiers (Vienne) and finally intercepted in Cerisé, in the Orne.

The fugitive traveling at more than 170 km / ha thus traveled 300 km through four departments for 1 hour 45 minutes , specifies Actu.fr.

A car opened the way for him

The defendant, originally from Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray (Seine-Maritime), was returning from Spain with drugs on board his vehicle. Part of it was concealed in the fenders of the car, another was simply placed in the trunk. CCTV images show that on its journey, the Clio was preceded by an Audi A1 responsible for opening the way for it, a practice used during go fast.

The driver of this Aude has been identified and is the subject of an international arrest warrant. The Norman driver, for his part, refused to communicate the names of the sponsors of the operation.

45,000 euros of goods

During the chase, the suspect did not hesitate to weave between the vehicles, drive on the emergency stop lane and the central reservation of the A10 and A28 motorways or crash into two toll barriers. He was arrested after the puncture of one of his tires. "There were 45,000 euros worth of goods," said the defendant.

The man was sentenced to five years in prison, two of which were suspended. This penalty is accompanied by an obligation to compensate the gendarmes and customs officials, a fine of 165,000 euros and a two-year probation.
