The hall of Paris-Bercy, which will host the Olympic qualification tournament (TQO) of French handball players from April 17 to 19, will be limited to a gauge of 5,000 spectators, in application of the decree to limit the spread of coronavirus, said the Federation French Friday.

A decree published in the Official Journal on Thursday provides that "any gathering bringing together more than 5,000 people in a closed environment simultaneously is prohibited on national territory until May 31, 2020".

This limitation "is imposed on us, because it is a decree which was released yesterday. We are therefore in discussion with the AccorHotels Arena for this device", explained the national technical director of the French hand, Philippe Bana.

The Olympic qualification tournament in hand must be held in Bercy from April 17 to 19, with France, Croatia, Tunisia and Portugal, and two places at stake to compete in the JO-2020 this summer (July 24-August 9). ).

The International Handball Federation (IHF) reunites on Tuesday in Basel the six TQO organizing countries (France, Norway and Germany for men, Hungary, Spain and Montenegro for women) to discuss measures, "different from country to country. 'other".

"At this stage, we are in the same measure as deployed today, that is to say staying within this limit of 5,000 people," added Philippe Bana, a gauge who includes all the people inside the 'installation, so also the organizers, volunteers, media.

"The AccorHotels Arena has today stopped selling tickets at this stage of the event," said DTN.

If the ceiling is exceeded, "it will be necessary to provide for possible devices on which we are working and which are not recorded, reimbursement," said Philippe Bana.

In the "ball sport (tennis, basketball, handball ...)" configuration, Paris-Bercy can normally accommodate up to 15,600 people.
