The mild and snowy winter has been tough for the alpine ski resorts in southern Sweden. In Knaggebobacken in Mullsjö they have now managed to get together so much snow that one can open one of their longer descents, the Skogsbacken.

Last week's cold snap allowed the snow cannons to run for a total of 40 hours.

- Now we have a month on us. Depending on the weather, we hope to be open all days during March. There is a pent-up need for many. I have received calls from Skåne and Gothenburg from people who want to go, says Michael Lindberg.

Lost a lot of money

But this year's winter has made it tough financially for the plant outside Mullsjö.

- It depends a little on how things are going in March, but we estimate that we will lose 80 percent of sales this season, says Michael Lindberg.

Will you be able to continue the business?

- We have to look after the season how things are. We have to evaluate then, says Michael Lindberg.

But now he is delighted that it was possible to open one of the longer slopes this winter against all odds.

- We are probably one of the only alpine facilities that is open in Götaland. And it can probably draw some people.

In the clip below you can see what it looked like when the slopes opened last season:
