The municipal housing company Bostaden conducted its own survey a couple of years ago where they asked students about corridor rooms. The questions were partly about furniture, but also about the actual housing form and it showed that most people want to live alone with their own kitchen, shower and toilet. A challenge for Housing which has 2800 single rooms in its portfolio.

- Our foreign students want to live in a student corridor in order to have fellowship with neighbors, but here we go more towards a society where you want to live for yourself and not depend on others, says Anders Hugosson, Marketing Manager at Housing.

Want to attract with durability

The residence works with social media, among other things, to attract students to choose to live in the corridor. They try to highlight benefits such that those living in the corridor can keep their queue time and that you only have to pay rent for ten months. The home also works with something they call "Sustainable Homes" and to attract more people to choose student corridors, they highlight the sustainability aspect.

- It is more sustainable to live together and share equipment and other community spaces.
