He will soon have to explain himself about the facts before the Nantes Criminal Court. A 31-year-old man is being sued for dazzling the pilot of a gendarmerie helicopter with a laser. According to the gendarmes, the craft carried out an overflight of the town of Bouaye, near Nantes, "for a mission for the benefit of the national police", in early February around 19:15.

The pilot, whose "endangerment" took place when he was passing over a house, decided to file a complaint. Investigators quickly identified where the laser came from. Its owner is a friend of the occupant of the accommodation, who admitted having used it to dazzle the pilot, said the gendarmes.

A condemned "yellow vest"

For similar facts, which took place during a demonstration of "yellow vests" in Toulouse, a man was sentenced to one year in prison, in January 2019. During his trial, he explained that he had targeted not not the cockpit but the underside of the aircraft.
