PS mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, defends her ecological balance after more than a week of the first round of municipal elections, and plans to reserve lanes for clean vehicles "on certain axes" of Paris if she is re-elected, announces- her in an interview with Les Echos published on Friday.

"We will have to go further by reserving lanes for clean vehicles, taxis, electric shuttles, public transport, carpooling", advance in this interview the candidate, supported by the platform "Paris en commun", recalling that the mayor of Paris is already working on this option "on the ring road". "We can also imagine it on certain axes in Paris", adds the councilor, without giving more details on the boulevards which would be targeted by these new restrictions.

Questioned by AFP on the axes which will be concerned, the president of "Paris in common", Jean-Louis Missika, specifies that they will be discussed and chosen during "the parking and mobility assizes, organized after the elections, and announced by Anne Hidalgo, as part of consultations with all stakeholders "including the police headquarters.

"The basis of my proposals is obviously ecology", recalls in Les Echos the outgoing mayor, and "the first priority will be to continue the transformations on the mode of travel".

"Paris must become a city in which the private car should only be used by those who need it," said the candidate who scrapped for the pedestrianization of tracks on the bank, despite the opposition of elected officials and residents, and multiple judicial developments.

After being at the head of the voting intentions for several months, Anne Hidalgo is now slightly ahead in several polls by Rachida Dati, at 24% against 25%.

In third position, the list of Agnès Buzyn (LREM) is stable with 17% of voting intentions, ahead of that of the ecologist David Belliard (EELV) losing speed to 11% (-2), according to a survey Harris Interactive-Epoka Tuesday for LCI, RTL and 20 minutes.
