However, you must present an identity document.

How does the municipal election take place in municipalities with more than 1000 inhabitants?

In the municipalities of more than 1,000 inhabitants, the ballot is proportional, of lists and with two rounds.

The lists must be joint with as many women as men. Note that women are not placed at the end of the list, there must be a male-female or female-male alternation.

To be elected in the first round, a list must obtain an absolute majority of the votes cast.

In this case, the list receives half of the seats to be filled on the municipal council.

The other seats are distributed proportionally between the lists which made more than 5%.

In the event of a 2nd round, to maintain oneself, the 10% of votes cast must be exceeded.

Lists that are more than 5% may merge with lists that are more than 10%.

In the 2nd round, the list that comes out on top is credited with half of the seats to be filled in the municipal council. The other lists share the remaining seats proportionally according to their results.

The election of the mayor in the municipalities of -1000 inhabitants and more than 1000 inhabitants is made by the municipal councilors elected by secret ballot during the first meeting of the municipal council.

How does the municipal election take place in municipalities of - 1000 inhabitants?

In the municipalities of –1000 inhabitants, candidates can present themselves individually or in groups.

If you have a group nomination, voters can cross off one or more names on the ballot.

During the count, the votes are counted by name.

To be elected in the 1st round, two conditions are required:

• that the candidate has an absolute majority of the votes cast

• and that the candidate also obtained at least 1/4 of the votes of the voters registered on the electoral lists

If there is a 2nd round, there must be a relative majority regardless of the number of voters.

In the event of a tie between two candidates, the oldest is elected.
