“As for Shmygal, he has a certain strategic thinking, judging by the priorities that he proposed to consider as the main ones. How much he will implement it is another matter. He is Zelensky’s appointee, ”the expert said.
According to him, “the appointment of Dmitry Kuleba to the post of head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry” causes some caution.
“If you look at his official biography, you can recall that in 2016-2019 he was the representative of Ukraine to the Council of Europe. That is, this is exactly the time when Russia was deprived of the right to vote, when attacks were made on our country. It’s hard to say whether his appointment will improve relations between Ukraine and Russia and other neighboring countries, ”Olenchenko said.
Nevertheless, according to the expert, “it is quite possible that Denis Shmygal has some potential that will be realized for the benefit of Ukraine.”
“In any case, these are new people, and I want to hope that this is an optimistic replacement, not a pessimistic one,” the expert concluded.

The Verkhovna Rada during the meeting approved Dmitry Kuleba as the Foreign Minister of Ukraine, and Lieutenant General in the Reserve Andriy Taran was appointed Minister of Defense.
