It was on New Year's Eve 2019 that the first confirmed case of the new coronavirus was reported in the major city of Wuhan, China. Since then, the virus has spread around the world and here in Sweden some 50 people are now infected.

Hard-hit, with hundreds of cases, are now Italy and Iran, among others. And it was precisely in Iran that Alireza's wife traveled for a dental operation and to visit relatives a month ago.

Take another path

- She has bought several air tickets for around SEK 15,000 with different companies and all have canceled their flights because of the corona virus, says Alireza Ghafarian, to SVT News West.

Since last week, the Swedish Transport Agency has stopped all direct flights between Iran and Sweden, which Aliereza thinks is wrong.

- I have a full understanding of trying to protect the population, but people will take other paths instead of being able to come home and work and meet their relatives.

Will your wife take any other route?

- Yes absolutely. We are trying to fix a ticket to Amsterdam and then on to Gothenburg. I know she is healthy and feeling good and she is willing to test herself when she gets home.
