Malian Prime Minister Boubou Cisse started this Wednesday, March 4, a visit to the Kidal region where he arrived after a stopover in Tessalit. The locality is mainly controlled by the ex-rebellion, but for almost three weeks, a battalion of the reconstituted Malian army (made up of soldiers of the South and combatants of the ex-armed groups) is on the spot.

The helicopter that transported the Prime Minister of Mali landed inside the area occupied by the UN mission in Kidal. To welcome him, the regional governor representing the state, those responsible for coordinating the movements of Azawad and the ex-rebellion, as well as other officials were present.

The procession took the direction of the residence of notabilities. The city of Kidal is then rather lively. At the market, the stalls are busy. At several crossroads we find armed men who are ex-rebels.

Boubou Cissé visited the contingent of the reconstituted Malian armed forces. For the moment, this contingent is still in a military camp and has not started to organize patrols, three weeks after its arrival on the spot.

A meeting was also scheduled with the leaders of the armed groups who still control much of the city.

In Kidal, the head of the Malian government will also talk about the gradual return of state services, but also about the development of the region with several associations of young people and women he decided to meet.
