The German government announced today, Wednesday, that the world is facing a "global epidemic" with the outbreak of the new Corona virus, stressing that it views the situation "very seriously" with the increasing number of infections continuously.

"The new Corona epidemic in China has turned into a global epidemic," Health Minister Jens Span said, speaking to the lower house of parliament in Berlin.

The Robert Koch Institute stated that the number of confirmed cases of corona in Germany rose to 240 today from Wednesday afternoon, 196.

The institute said that 15 of 16 German states had announced cases of HIV infection, and the North Rhine-Westphalia state was the most affected.

Germany has not recorded any deaths from the virus, which began spreading in the Chinese city of Wuhan late last year and spread rapidly across the world.

In Iran, the Iranian Ministry of Health announced that it recorded 15 additional deaths from the virus and 586 new infections, which raises the total national toll to 92 deaths and 2922 cases.

Quarantine
"The number of new confirmed cases during the past 24 hours is 586," Health Ministry spokesman Kyanosh Jahanpur said at a press conference.

The infections are concentrated in the provinces of Tehran and Qom, but the latest numbers indicate that the virus is now spreading in almost all of the 31 Iranian provinces, with one exception.

The first cases and deaths of the newly emerging Coronavirus in Iran were announced in Qom on February 19.

In the same context, the "Iran Wire" news website reported on Wednesday that Ishaq Jahangiri, the first vice-president of Iran, was infected with the Corona virus and undergoing treatment.

The website reported the news, citing an "informed source", but there has been no confirmation of it so far from Iranian officials.

Iranian officials have been infected with the Coruna virus, and a senior official died on Monday after being infected.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced today, Wednesday, that cases of corona were recorded in almost all provinces of the country.

In Tunisia, the Tunisian Ministry of Health announced today, Wednesday, that 996 people are quarantined in their homes on suspicion of being infected with the Coronavirus.

This came during a press conference held by the Minister of Health, Abdellatif Al-Makki, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Tunis, which he dedicated to presenting the latest developments in the health situation in Tunisia.

Al-Makki said that 996 people are subjected to self-quarantine "in their homes" on suspicion of being infected with the virus.

On Monday, Al-Makki announced that the first HIV infection was recorded in Tunisia for a Tunisian citizen residing in Italy and returned to the country.
