Journalists asked him if the country would cease to be a secular state if such an amendment were adopted.

“I can’t answer this question now. But it’s obvious that the state does not lose its secular character, ”the Kremlin representative said.

As Peskov noted, issues related to this amendment will be clarified in a timely manner.

“I cannot tell you the exact time and the exact format of the explanation,” he said.

He emphasized that the corresponding interpretation would be given before the popular vote on the amendments.

“Before the adoption, before the vote, there will be a wide campaign to clarify these amendments, this text - the president himself and the members of the working group spoke about this repeatedly,” Peskov concluded.

On March 2, the State Duma received presidential amendments to the bill amending the Constitution.

As stated in the lower house of parliament, the amendments are set out on 24 pages and sent to the relevant committee.

Among the amendments is a mention of God.
