China News Agency, Geneva, March 2 (Reporter De Yongjian) The 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council is being held in Geneva. On the 2nd, an interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on freedom of religious belief is held. Hua pointed out that various religions coexist harmoniously in China, and there have never been religious disputes in China.

Liu Hua stated that China's Constitution stipulates that no state organ, social group, or individual shall compel citizens to believe in or not to believe in religion, and shall not discriminate against religious and non-religious citizens. China's "Regional Ethnic Autonomy Law", "General Principles of Civil Law", "Education Law", "Labor Law", "People's Congress Election Law" and other provisions stipulate that citizens can enjoy the right to vote, be elected and receive education regardless of their religious beliefs. China's Law on the Protection of Women's Rights emphasizes that women enjoy the same equal rights as men in law, including equal cultural education and religious rights.

Liu Hua introduced that China mainly has religions such as Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism, and Christianity. There are more than 5,500 religious groups, nearly one hundred religious colleges, and about 140,000 places for religious activities. There are also hundreds of mosques in China dedicated to female Muslims. Various religions coexist in harmony in China, and there have never been religious disputes in China. This is not only a manifestation of the Chinese traditional culture's compatibility and tolerance, but also shows that the religious belief policy adopted by the Chinese government is in line with China's national conditions.

On the same day, the 43rd session of the United Nations Human Rights Council also held an interactive dialogue with the Special Rapporteur on human rights and the environment. Liu Hua said that China appreciates the comprehensive and pragmatic report submitted by the Special Rapporteur, introduced the good practices of environmental protection in more than 170 countries including China, and provided a useful reference for the international community.

Liu Hua also pointed out that this year the international community will formulate a global biodiversity framework after 2020, at which time China will host the Conference of the Parties to the Framework Convention on Biological Diversity in Kunming, Yunnan, as the host country. As a responsible developing country, China will continue to work with the international community to strengthen international cooperation in areas such as environmental management, strengthen legislation, increase public awareness and participation, and environmental technology innovation, and make unremitting efforts to build a community of mountains, rivers, lakes, and grass. Work hard. (Finish)
