The Public Health Authority considers that suspending healthy school children is not an effective measure. None of the outbreaks seen so far by the corona virus are linked to schools or children. Despite this, several schools in the Stockholm area are now urging students who have stayed in China, Iran, South Korea or Northern Italy not to go to school after the sports holiday.

Schools offer distance education

During Saturday, Stillerska Film Gymnasium at Lidingö announced that it will be closed for the first school week after pupils and parents have expressed concern about whether the corona virus can be spread at school. Instead, students are offered distance education.

On Sunday evening, Lidingö city went out with information that children and students may stay home from school two weeks after returning from risk areas, even if the child does not show symptoms. Even sports clubs at Lidingö encourage guardians to keep their children at home from training.

Open as usual

The City of Stockholm states that the city's preschools and schools will remain open as usual on Monday. But you will not register illegal absences for those students who choose to stay home because of the corona virus. The Viktor Rydberg schools also ask students to stay home during the coming week. Instead, students are allowed to follow the teaching from home.
