Closure for works. Rennes airport will be forced to shutdown for the entire month of March with no aircraft that will land or take off from the platform. Starting this Monday, major renovation and security works will be undertaken on the airport's only runway.

With a total cost of 10.5 million euros, the site should allow the Rennes airport to accommodate wide-body aircraft such as Airbus A350 or Boeing 777 and boost the freight activity. The work is scheduled to end on March 28. Three days later, the connection to Frankfurt operated by the Lufhtansa company will be inaugurated with three flights per week to the fourth largest European airport.

Passenger traffic down slightly last year

Last year, Rennes airport transported 852,000 passengers, down 0.6% year-on-year. An air gap, after several years of growth, which is partly explained by the difficulties of Air France and its subsidiary Hop! who decided to drastically reduce its offer on the network and by "the period of" bashing "that the airline has to face," said Gilles Tellier, director of the airport.
