"Plague be greed!". Employees of the Comédie Française and the Paris Opera protested Saturday against the use of 49-3 on pensions by delivering a brief theatrical performance from the Molière repertoire, in front of the Comédie Française.

Distributed in the windows, balcony and forecourt of the institution, actors in period costume gave themselves the answer by drawing from several plays of the playwright quotes in connection with money, including "The Miser", with howling Harpagon that his famous "cassette" was stolen from him.

"My wages, my wages!" cried a banner held by two actors in white, masked in black. Opera musicians played extracts from the classical repertoire to accompany the texts.

A few hundred people, mainly opponents of the pension reform, including many supporters of the CGT show, warmly applauded the performance before chanting "Macron, resign!".

"We denounce the coming into force of the government, a new stage in the dismantling of our social protection system," said an official, who spoke after the performance.

Very advanced against the pension reform project, the Paris Opera and the Comédie Française are the only two cultural institutions to benefit from a special regime.
