In the wake of announcements made on Saturday by the Minister of Health, the northern prefecture applied government guidelines to combat the spread of coronavirus in the department. Binding measures have been taken by prefectural decree.

"Stage 2 of the Coronavirus containment strategy" was activated on Saturday. In the North, this translates into a decree "prohibiting all gatherings of more than 5,000 people organized in confined environments. The validity of this decree runs until March 14, but it could be extended depending on the evolution of the situation.

The Dunkirk carnival under surveillance

It was a Dunkirk carnival event that first paid the price for this measure against the Covid-19. The Gigolos Gigolettes ball, which was to take place on Saturday evening, has been canceled. On the other hand, the Malo gang, planned for this Sunday, has been maintained, this one taking place outside.

There was still uncertainty about the start of the new school year, which will take place on Monday in the North. The prefect recalled that at this stage "there are no specific measures that could lead to the closure of these educational establishments and equipment". There are, however, home confinement instructions for pupils or educational personnel returning from identified exhibition areas: China (mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao), Singapore, South Korea, Iran, or regions from Lombardy and Veneto in Italy. Similarly, school trips planned in these zones or with stopovers in these zones must be canceled.

For companies, it is internally that the measures to stem the epidemic must be taken and implemented. This is for example the case with Arc International which, among other instructions, prohibits until further notice its employees from shaking hands or kissing each other.
